SAFER NEIGHBOURHOOD
The Safer Neighbourhood Officer who covers the Scriven area is PC Tim Craven based at Knaresborough Police Station.
PC Craven attends meetings whenever possible to give an update on the latest crimes in the Scriven Park Ward. He also advises and informs of any operations or initiatives aiming to reduce crime in the area.
The Police now offer a drop in service at Knaresborough Library every Thursday between 12 noon and 1pm. Everyone is welcome to go along to meet the local Community Support Officer and discuss their concerns.
While crime continues to fall in the area covered by the local police the one exception is “Criminal Damage” often against vehicles. Most of this is minor in nature but no less annoying if your vehicle is involved. The initial advice is to park off the road if possible, in a driveway or garage and ensure side mirrors are folded in against the vehicle.
Harrogate Borough Council also provide a successful “Community Safety Partnership Team”. Their web address is www.saferharrogate.org.uk. The site contains a great deal of information on how to keep both yourself and your property safe.

If you want to be a good citizen but don't want anyone to know
who you are - not even the Police - then contact Crimestoppers.
You can ring 0800 555 111 or use their online secure form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org to leave information that the police
would find useful, whilst remaining anonymous.
Crimestoppers is a national independent charity that operates an anonymous service passing information from the public through to the police. Crimestoppers do not trace or record the calls and have no idea who called them or any means of identifying the caller. Crimestoppers then pass on the intelligence to the police for them to take the appropriate action.
Remember Crimestoppers is there if you want to fight crime without revealing your identity.
Alternatively, if you are happy to give your name then the best option is to call North Yorkshire Police directly by dialling 101. Further information regarding how and when to contact the police can be found via this link.
